Valley Verde Grand Opening

We’re excited to share that Valley Verde, an interim-use tenant at Downtown West, had their grand opening on March 27, 2021. Valley Verde has provided gardening workshops with homeland seedlings for four years and is now expanding with an in-person nursery at 59 S. Autumn St to meet community demand. At the grand opening families could buy seedlings and have access to resources for new gardeners.

Valley Verde is a San Jose-based nonprofit focused on increasing self-sufficiency, health, and resilience through a culturally informed community based food system to promote food justice. The organization offers monthly workshops and one-on-one mentorships in multiple languages and their greenhouses help local residents plant gardens to promote food security. Valley Verde also provides culturally preferred vegetable seedlings, environmental education and the development of edible gardens to build resilience through food sovereignty. Check out their website to learn more.
