We’re designing sustainable, inclusive places where local communities and Google can thrive
For our major mixed-use developments, we want to create vibrant, inclusive places that lead the way in sustainable design and are mutually beneficial to local communities and Google. And around the world, we always aim to create amazing environments where Googlers can come together to do their best work.
While each project is unique, they share some common goals. We always strive to design the best place to work, to build sustainably, and to be a helpful neighbor.
Responsibility to people and the planet

Designing the best place to work
We create offices that foster a sense of belonging and improve collaboration, productivity and wellbeing, which have always been core to Google’s workplace philosophy. Large or small, each office is designed to inspire innovation, big ideas, and community. At some locations, we’re thinking beyond the office and work life. In the Bay Area, we’re developing walkable neighborhoods with ambitious climate solutions, immersive nature, and a mix of uses that deepen community wellbeing.
-
Building and operating sustainably
We aim to be the first major company to operate on carbon-free energy by 2030—24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To help us get there, we’re building sustainability into everything we do. We’re doing that by designing our ground-up projects with circularity principles, cultivating healthy spaces and places, and accelerating carbon-free strategies including on-site, renewable energy production.

Being a helpful neighbor
From Google.org’s strategic grantmaking to our commitments to expand opportunities to the economic impact of our presence, we’re always looking for new ways to be stronger community members. With our mixed-use developments, we often team up with local nonprofits, create new public amenities, and engage with community groups to better understand local opportunities and challenges as we co-create designs. Because if our local communities thrive, we thrive too.
