Overview

Celebrate the iconic Stephen’s Meat Products sign temporary relocation to History Park San José on Saturday, November 19, from 3 - 7 pm. Hosted by San José Preservation Action Council, PAC*SJ and History San Jose, this evening celebration will feature sign-inspired artist demos, exhibits, and a holiday art and gift market from 3 - 5:30 pm inside the History Park Firehouse. The relighting of the beloved Dancing Pig sign will take place at 5:15 pm and will be followed by a reception from 5:30 - 7 pm.

Removed in October from its original location on S. Montgomery St. near Diridon Station, the historic neon sign will be on public exhibit at History Park and will permanently return to Downtown West post construction.

Originally installed in 1948, the sign marks where the Stephen’s Meat Products sausage factory once stood, and over the years has become an important part of San José’s rich history.

The November 19 event will mark the iconic sign’s past while commemorating its continued importance as a part of San Jose’s future.
